Background and Professional Interests
As a research assistant with the Center for Community Health and Development, Johana supports several health initiatives through technical assistance, evaluation, and quality assurance, including the National Study of Community Efforts to Prevent Childhood Obesity, and the Latino Health for All Coalition REACH Grant.
Johana’s experience includes community-based participatory research among minority populations, especially Latinos, health disparities research, and data collection and analysis for community research and evaluation. Johana is passionate about health disparities and community health, and her research interests broadly include understanding and improving the health of minority populations in a global perspective.
Johana received her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from KU.
